About WAPED top

The Washington Association on Postsecondary Education and Disability (W.A.P.E.D.), was established in 1982.  The need and potential benefits were recognized for establishing an organization that could provide support and training for professionals working in disability support services at postsecondary institutions throughout the state.

Today, with more than 100 active members representing over 60 postsecondary institutions in the Pacific Northwest, WAPED continues to meet the needs of a growing membership.  WAPED is a registered non-profit organization in the State of Washington.

WAPED's Purpose  top

The Washington Association on Postsecondary Education and Disability (W.A.P.E.D.), was established in 1982.  The need and potential benefits were recognized for establishing an organization that could provide support and training for professionals working in disability support services at postsecondary institutions throughout the state.

WAPED Membership Information   top

Institutional
This type of membership includes a membership for the institution itself and four individuals from that institution. Cost: $100

Professional
This type of membership is an individual membership for a person who is engaged in the administration or provision of services enhancing post-secondary educational opportunities for students with disabilities. Cost: $50

Associate
This type of membership is an individual membership for a person expressing an interest in the general aims and purposes of the Association. An Associate member may not run for office without nomination through the Nomination Committee, or a petition signed by at least (5) members in good standing with the Association. Cost: $30

Conferences  top

WAPED holds one meeting in the fall and one conference in the spring of each academic year.

The fall business meetings are typically held in October. Listed below are the dates and location for future meetings and conferences. Registration information will be posted as soon as it is available.
